A week with the grandparents in town is good for the soul. Good for the belly, good for the baby in the belly, good to get some use out of the set of old silver and some forgotten toys, definitely good for extending the family band. Good for catching a few more zzz’s and the excuse to make a pot of coffee in the afternoon. Good for jigsaw puzzle expediency and cooking collaboration. Good for thinning out the basket of hand-sewing projects, and good for getting out and about in Portland and seeing things we don’t usually see. Good for hearing old favorite books read aloud in a new favorite way. Good for cooking tips and a hand with a few dishes here and there. Good for seeing with fresh eyes how very many games can be played with just your two hands, two feet, and a willingness to make some funny noises. And good for experiencing and remembering just how very blessed we are. In gratitude…

the picture of grandma and Orlis hugging by the big tree is really touching. It’s a keeper.
